recycling light bulbs and more

Hey everyone

There is a story in the New York Times about how you will now be able to recycle your CFL bulbs at any Home Depot. As the bulbs do contain mercury, recycling them has become an issue. Kudos to the Home Depot and its partners for stepping up.

- The city will be hosting a recycling/drop off event at Northeastern Illinois University on August 9th. For more details click the link below.

Carbon Carbon Carbon

Hey everyone

There is an article in the NY Times that discusses the carbon offset programs.

I suggest you visit the website for Chicago Climate Exchange. They have opened up a market to buy and sell carbon credits. It is a different way to look at how industry is dealing with the carbon issue. There also will be a new exchange in New York later this year called the Green Exchange.

As a reminder, this blog has pledged to donate $0.25 to The Field Museum Carbon Offset program in Chicago for every person that signs up to receive the weekly updates from A Fresh Squeeze. The updates are chock full of great environmental tips and now you can positively affect the environment by simply asking for information on how to live in an environmentally friendly way! Let the blog know when you sign up as I would like to stay on top of it. Let's make Chicago the most carbon neutral place on earth!
