power, power, power

Hey everyone

- Has anyone noticed oil over $100? I know that alternative sources of energy account for about 2.5% of the total . But I bet if we put the money from those oil tax breaks and put them into technology for other sources of energy, we will be much more secure and profitable as a country.

- the "Greening the HS Campus" group met this past Friday Feb. 29 at 5PM in the Environmental Science building at DePaul University's Lincoln Park campus. We spoke about waste issues around the local high schools and what the kids have proposed to do to reduce waste. Students and teachers from DePaul, Hubbard, Curie, Amundsen, Maine East, Von Stuben, Walter Payton, and Northside College Prep discussed plans for current and future audits and other programs limiting waste in our high schools. There is also a Greening the HS wikipage up and running so if you have some info to post, sign up and edit away! At the meeting, Shelby Childress from Maine East introduced us to goapes on wikispaces. It is a fantastic site. Check it out.

- Check out the emags (right margin =>) as they continue to update on a multitude of topics concerning our use of the planet in local and global terms.
